Requirements:
- Firm issued laptop on the new Fall 2017 system
- Up to 1 hour for full setup of your new laptop
- Connected to the Firm network in office (wired or wireless) as VPN will not work for first time setup
Overview:
The purpose of these instructions are to walk you through the first time setup of a new workstation (Laptop or Desktop) after you have logged into the computer. These steps are necessary and required for your computer to work properly going forward and to allow all of the software to work properly.
Steps Required to Setup Computer:
- Once logged in you will be asked to activate your LastPass account and get setup. To setup LastPass: LastPass - About and Getting Started
- Next we need to activate OneDrive to get the files backed up on your old computer restored to your new one. For help and instructions on how to do this: OneDrive - Getting Setup
- Open CaseWare Working Papers (icon on desktop), let it complete configuration then close it without opening any files.
- Sign into Jabber, the instructions can be found here: Jabber - Setting up the first time
- Open Excel, you will need to accept the license by clicking ACCEPT on the First things first window
- Open Outlook one time, let it complete the setup, then close Outlook. If Outlook ask you to Choose Profile then please follow these instructions.
- Restart/reboot your computer one time to lock in settings and complete the configuration: START > POWER > RESTART.
NOTE: Your Outlook signature will not show up until after you have waited 20 minutes and rebooted one time.
Suggested Steps (after restart/reboot)
- Re-open CaseWare Working Papers (icon on desktop), then open one of the files you use from the K: drive that you need, be sure to open it in SmartSync mode: Creating a SmartSync Copy
- Open Outlook, this will activate Outlook and begin to download your email, contacts, calendar, and settings. If you backed up your view settings you can restore them now:
- Open Adobe Acrobat and let it complete setup, you can close it once open or setup the tool bars as you choose: Customizing Adobe Acrobat
