Overview:


This guide will walk you through connecting your OneDrive from Office 365 to your computer. This will allow you to synchronize files from your OneDrive to your computer and to move files from your computer to your OneDrive. Only local use personal files should be stored in OneDrive. All client related files should be stored on the K: drive, all Firm related files should be stored on the L: drive. CaseWare files can not be stored in OneDrive or they will become corrupt and all changes and data will be lost and not recoverable.


Setting up OneDrive

This will allow you to synchronize files with your OneDrive in the cloud and locally on your computer.


  1. Click on the START  button and type "OneDrive" when the menu comes up.
  2. At the START menu type "OneDrive" on the keyboard, this will search for the application. Once you see  click on the application.
  3. A new window will open titled "Microsoft OneDrive Set up OneDrive" 

  4. In the new window enter your Smith & Howard email address, i.e. [email protected] and click SIGN IN
  5. If the next window is "Set up OneDrive" with options to pick personal or Work/School please click Work or School" . If this does not appear then move to step 6 please

  6. In the new window please click on NEXT 

  7. In the "Sync your OneDrive files to this PC" choose NEXT again 

  8. In the next window please click "Open my OneDrive - SMith Howard PC folder" 

  9. Two windows should now open:
    a. A web-browser with instructions on how to move files and create folders
    b. A Windows Explorer window that shows your new OneDrive folder(s)
