Overview:


Integrate ShareFile directly with Windows Explorer, allowing you to access, sync, and manage your files through a mapped drive without opening a browser. This is different compared to Sharefile for Outlook

  • Installing and Signing-In
  • Setting up and Using
  • Add a place in ShareFile for Windows
  • Managing Folders 
  • Updating and Uploading Files


Installing ShareFile for Windows:

  1. Launch Company Portal through the Start Menu or your Desktop shortcut
  2. Search for Windows App or select through the Featured Apps
  3. Select Install

Setting up and Using:

 

  1. Once installed you will see Sharefile mapped to a network drive that you can change in File Explorer
  2. Next will will enable the Co-Edit settings. This will enable live collaboration with other invited team members or clients to your Shared Folders
  3. Open the SFWin Settings from the system tray, scroll down to MS Office

  4. Scroll below and enable Co-Edit. This will make sure any Office File that is opened from the SF Win mounted drive is opened with a co-edit sesson.

Add a place allows you to have direct access to your Microsoft Office applications for Co-editing in ShareFile on your PC using Windows.

Follow this external link to quickly access files from your File Explorer window. 

This will bypass having to go to the Sharefile website!

Note: When you get to Step 4, enter smithhoward as the Subdomain on this screen



Managing Folders:

Personal folders: As an employee user, you have Personal Folders in your assigned ShareFile account. By default, you can upload and download files from this folder. You can also create subfolders inside this folder and add other users to those subfolders with the permissions you desire.


Shared Folders: Contains all folders (created by you or other members) that you have access to. 





Adding Permissions: Users can only view folders (and the files contained within) if they have been added to that folder.
  1. Open a folder in ShareFile.
  2. Select People on this Folder.
  3. Select Add People to this folder.

  4. Type the name of the users you want to add. Begin to type (name or email address) to search from all users already in the system.
  5. Choose the folder permissions that apply to as many of the users as possible and click Add. (Please note: If a member only needs access to that specific folder but not the subfolders, unselect Apply settings to subfolders to not give grant folder permissions to subfolders until the different permissions are applied.) 
  6. Choose the Folder Alerts if required.
  7. Click Save to apply these permission changes.

Updating and Uploading Files: 


Upload files using the ShareFile web-app:


  1. In the ShareFile webapp, select and open a folder.
  2. Hover your cursor over the blue plus sign and select Upload.

  3. Either drag the file to the Drag files here window or select Browse files to navigate to the file to upload.
  4. Select Upload.


Upload files using ShareFile for Windows:
  1. Open the ShareFile folder.

  2. Select the file you want to upload.

  3. Drag the file to the ShareFile drive in Windows Explorer. The upload success message displays.
