Overview:


Use this article for help exporting data from LastPass and importing into Bitwarden. Bitwarden offers a fully functional importer tool to help migrate your data from LastPass into Bitwarden. As you follow along this article, you will learn how to export your passwords from Lastpass, and then how to import them into Bitwarden. 


NOTE:  All your LastPass passwords will be exported in a single CSV file. This file needs to be permanently deleted AFTER migrating into Bitwarden.

  • Export from LastPass
  • Import to Bitwarden


Export from LastPass:

  1.   We will begin by Navigating to your Vault within your browser. 
    • You can access vault through your Lastpass extension 
  2.  Once you are within your LastPass vault, navigate to the bottom left corner, and open the "Advanced Options", then select "Export

  3. You may need to reconfirm your login to access the export file. 
    • If you sign-in using SSO then password may not be needed

  4. A download will automatically prompt named "lastpass_export.csv

  5. You have successfully exported all your passwords. Follow the next section for Importing.

Import to Bitwarden:

  1.   Login to your Bitwarden web vault: https://vault.bitwarden.com/
  2.   Navigate to the top ribbon and select "Tools". From there click on "Import Data" on the side menu. 

  3. You will need to select Format import type and then the CSV you exported from the previous section which can be found in your downloads
    1. Select "Lastpas (CSV)" as the import format
    2. Choose the import file from your downloads named "lastpass_export.csv

  4. Select "Import data" once format and file have been selected
  5. A new prompt will appear with a small summary of the different items that were imported. You will know you are successful if you see a similar screen to this screenshot below:  

  6. You will see all your folders with their respective passwords along your Vaults menu 

  7. After successful import, delete the import source file (Lastpass_export.csv) from your downloads. This will protect you in the event your computer is compromised.
