Overview:


Smith+Howard provides access to certain applications through Microsoft's Remote Application system. These applications can be found through the Remote Desktop Client installed on your workstation, and then accessed through the Start Menu. This guide will cover:

  • Discovering Remote Applications available to you through the Remote Desktop Client
  • Opening the Remote Applications through the Start Menu


Discover Remote Applications with the Remote Desktop Client:


The Remote Desktop Client is installed on your workstation and acts as the primary conduit you will use to access your Remote Applications, though it will mostly operate in the background. Once you first discover your applications through the Remote Desktop Client, the Client will facilitate your connection in the background as you use other shortcuts.


 

  1. Start at your home screen and look for "Remote Desktop" on your windows search bar.

  2. Once opened you will be prompted with the "Let's get started" start screen. You will select "Subscribe" to begin accessing your assigned Remote Desktops.

  3. Upon subscribing, you will be prompted to Sign-in to your Smith + Howard account. Please sign-in using your Smith + Howard email.

  4. Once successfully signed in you will see the list of available Remote Resources, including any Remote Applications assigned to you. Double-click on the Remote Application you wish to use to open it. You may be prompted for your password once again.

  5. Once you have finished with the application, close any open windows to end your Remote Session.


Access Remote Applications through the Start Menu:


Once you have first discovered your Remote Applications through the Remote Desktop Client, they will be published to your Start Menu. You can use these icons to open the Remote Applications the same way you would a locally installed application, or even Pin them to the Start Menu or taskbar for quicker access.
