Overview:
AVD is the virtual machine used to host Contractor desktop environments. This can be accessed through web browser or can be downloaded as shortcut onto your personal desktop. Using secure credentials, connecting to this virtual desktop makes work easier, as it is secure and easy to connect to.

Signing into and launching AVD:
- To begin please navigate to the following link on a web browser: https://client.wvd.microsoft.com/arm/webclient/index.html

Once opened you will be prompted to sign into your Smith + Howard account. Please sign in using your appropriate credentials
If you have a Yubikey please follow these instructions on how to sign-in with Yubikey: Yubikey- Signing into Microsoft Account : S+H Technology Systems (smith-howard.com) - Once Signed in you will see Virtual Desktop(s) you have access to.
- Select the Virtual Desktop that you would like to access. Upon selecting you may run into a prompt that details what access you would like to give the machine. Deselect all resources and select "Allow"
- Once you have allowed you will be prompted to sign-in once more to you Virtual Desktop. Enter your credentials and select "Submit"
- You will know you have successfully connected when you see a Green Checkmark by your machine name towards the top left corner of the window. You can also end the session by selecting the "X" by your machine name.

Downloading AVD as a shortcut:
- Start at the homepage of the AVD homepage: https://client.wvd.microsoft.com/arm/webclient/index.html
- Navigate towards the top-right corner of the screen and select the gear icon. The settings side-menu will appear. Under "Resources Launch Method" select the 2nd option named "Download the rdp file."
- Once that has been saved, try accessing the virtual desktop that is assigned to you. You will see the rdp file will be downloaded. Save the download to a destination of your choosing.
- You will sign-in with your Smith + Howard Microsoft account like in the steps in that 1st section of this article.
