Overview:
MFA stands for Multi-Factor Authentication and is an extra layer of security that we are implementing in order to better protect our S+H accounts and data. This article is going to GUIDE you on how to setup the Multifactor Authentication on your device as well as how to use.
How to setup:
- Note: Begin these steps on your computer. You will change to your phone on step 6
- You will begin by opening the following link: https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info
- Once you have opened the link your window it will prompt you to sign in and you will use your S+H credentials. After signing in the window should appear as the following:
- Select + Add sign-in method
- Choose Microsoft Authenticator from the dropdown and select Add.
- Go through the prompts and a window will appear with your own QR code that is needed to add your account to the Authenticator App. Do not scan until you have downloaded the Authenticator App
- NOTE: Before scanning, download the app using this article if you have not already: https://helpdesk.smith-howard.com/support/solutions/articles/5000076971
- Once in the Authenticator app, you are going to select the "Add Account" button and select "Work or School Account". After selecting Work Account you will Scan the QR code provided on your computer from Step 5.
- If unable to scan use the Sign In method.
- Once you have successfully added your account via QR code or manual sign in, you will select "Next" on the window with the QR Code
- You will know you have correctly setup MFA if your screen looks similar to the following screenshots
- After that go back to your computer screen and select "Next." A verification notification will be sent to your mobile device in which you will approve on your device. Your computer will show the following window as it waits for you to approve on your mobile device. You will select "Next" once approved.
- After this you should be all set.
