This article includes instructions on how to receive a phone call from within Cisco Jabber. This application is included with all firm-issued workstations and can be used, among other things, to receive and control phone calls.


Requirements

  • Firm-issued workstation
  • Firm-issued telephone number/Extension
  • Connection to the Firm network via wired, in office wireless, or VPN
  • Jabber running and signed in

Overview

Phone calls coming in to your Smith & Howard extension can be answered from within Jabber. Depending on the Call-Handling mode that Jabber is in, calls will either begin on your desk phone or directly through the computer. For more information about Jabber, see:

  1. When a call is coming in on your extension and Jabber is running and signed in, a message will appear in the corner of your monitor with the call's information and a ringtone may play from the computer as well
  2. Click "Answer" to accept the call
  3. The call will connect and the call management window will open

Note: The call will connect to the device you have chosen for Jabber's Call-Handling mode. If Jabber is in desk phone mode, the call will begin in speakerphone from the your desk phone.
