Overview:


This article will guide members on accessing QB files that are older than 2020. Only 1 member at a time can connect to the remote desktop. This is only used in scenarios where the client has not updated their QB file.

Finding the QBRemote Shorcut:


Tip! Make sure you are connected to the VPN if working remotely
Here is the quick path to the shortcut: L:\IT_Helpdesk\Shortcuts 

  1. Find the L Drive, in file explorer

 

  1. Double-click "IT_Helpdesk"

 

  1. Double-click "Shortcuts"

 

  1. And thenthere'sthe QuickBooks remote desktop shortcut.

 

Tip! Your first connection will take a bit to load since it will need to load your profile. 

  1. Double-Click to launch. You will enter your S+H master password

 

  1. A separate window will appear when connecting.

New QB file management:

 

1. Similar to your old network drives, we have a Q drive to store those files.This can be accessed by theQBRemotedesktop.

 

2. You will find a "BIR Clients" Folder where you can move files from your legacy drives and create new folders for clients that will send older QB file versions.

 

3. Files kept on the old network drives will not open correctly. Please move the folders/files into the new Q drive.Q:\BIR Clients

 

4. Right-click to create a new Client folder, Click "New"
