Overview:


In this article, firm members will be guided through best practices for accessing and troubleshooting PDFs documents that are password protected with TicTie Calculcate installed. This will guide through fixing the Adobe Acrobat app that is not launching, PDFs saying that they are already open or can't be deleted because they are open, and best method for viewing protected PDFs.

Troubleshooting Adobe:

  1.  Files launched from File Explorer or the Recent tab of Adobe Acrobat will launch normally
  2. Once setup with password protection and attempting to relaunch the file through File Explorer will lead with the prompt for automatic sign-in of TicTie Calculate will appear however Adobe Acrobat will not launch. 
  3. Follow the below steps to troubleshoot:
    1. Access Task Manager -- Can be done through Start Menu or Right-Clicking the Taskbar
    2. Click the Processes tab
    3. Navigate through processes and click End task on any items relating to Adobe Acrobat
    4. If you are on Windows 11 you can search for Adobe Acrobat in the search bar of Task Manager
    5. The process we are targeting will be under Background Processes relating to Adobe Acrobat
    6. Relaunch Adobe and proceed with next section


Opening PDFs:

 

  1. With TicTie Calculate installed on firm members workstations they can launch PDFs normally from File Explorer, Recent tab (in Adobe Acrobat), or by opening through Adobe Acrobat
  2. If the PDFs are password protected, these PDF files will need to be opened through Adobe Acrobat:
    1. File > Open (Ctrl + O) or under the Recent tab
    2. Open the PDF file through File Explorer
