This guide will help to align your account with pre-requisites from a security standpoint but also to ensure your account syncs across the Family of Companies in the correct manner.

Example: Email appearing in Global Address Book.

  • How to change or add Microsoft Authenticator as your default


How to identify the correct sign-in method: 

  1.   Start by going to this website: http://aka.ms/mfasetup
  2. You may be prompted to sign-in by selecting your email account. The screen you will see is the following 
  3. Pay close attention to what you see underneath "Security Info".  If yours is most similar to the 1st screenshot, please change the method and follow the next portion. If yours can be changed to the second screenshot, you will be all set.
  4. Please follow the next section if you do not see a Microsoft Authenticator as a "sign-in method."

How to change or add Microsoft Authenticator as your default

 

  1. Select + Add sign-in method

  2. Choose Microsoft Authenticator from the dropdown and select Add.

  3.  Follow the prompts and download the App that appears if you do not have installed on your phone.
  4. Open the app on your phone, then add hit the "+" button in the top right-corner. 
  5. You are going to Add Account and select "Work or School Account". After selecting Work Account you will Scan QR code provided on your computer from Step 3.

  6. On your phone you will see your email account appear in Authenticator. Follow the prompts on your laptop to confirm you receive a test notification until Done.
  7. You will finally see your Microsoft Authenticator method appear in the original website: aka.ms/mfasetup
