Overview: Guide on fixing issues with Prior Year locators not working and an updated guide on install and setup of Locators for prior year locators. Please note that to open previous year locators, 2019 Year needs to be first installed and kept installed.


Requirements:

  • GST Account
  • Platform Components installed (accessible through S: Drive run as admin, follow steps in guide before installing)
  • RS 2019 Client (Run as admin on install, follow steps before installing)
  • RS Client of the needed year (2019 & Prior)

  1. Download and extract the Shared file below -- Sent from Thomson Reuters Support

 

  1. Uninstall Platform Components and any RSClient you may have on your computer.

To make sure you don’t have any remaining file about the installation corrupted we need to uninstall Platform Components and any RSClient you may have. You can do it from:

Control Panel > Program and Features > Right Click on the software and uninstall.

  1. Rename from the shared folder "CleanUpRegEntries_Client.txt" to "CleanUpRegEntries_Client.reg"

Let’s go back to the folder where we extracted the shared files from the Referral (Support). Inside the folder there will be two files with the following names:

Please rename the CleanUpRegEntries_Client.txt to CleanUpRegEntries_Client.txt, once you’ve

done this, you’ll be prompted with a warning mentioning you’re changing the extension file

type. You can safely ignore the warning and click on Yes.

  1.  Execute "CleanUpRegEntries_Client.reg" by double clicking. Click on Yes

We need now to execute the registry file named CleanUpRegEntries_Client.reg. When you

double click on it you’ll be prompted if you’re sure to execute the file. Please click on yes.

Once we have done this our computer will be free from any corrupt file during the installation or

any registry entry about the Classic Organizer.
 

  1. Install Platform Components from the S: Drive (Run as Admin)

Install the RS 2019 Client (Run as Admin) through the GoSystemTax Options page: Login > Options > Download Clients > 2019 Client > open folder path> Right click and run as Admin

Install the RS Client for the needed year (In Case You Forget  --> Run as Admin)
 

  1. To confirm everything installed properly, follow this file path to confirm that the Chrome Support folder is populating:
     This PC > OS (C:) > Program Files (x86) > RIA
     A RS2019 folder should show up as well

  1. Rename the "HKCU_SW_RIA.txt" to "HKCU_SW_RIA.reg" as we did earlier in Step 3
     Execute "HKCU_SW_RIA.reg" -- Click Yes on the prompt that appears 
  2. Launch Registry Editor aka RegEdit to confirm that the following path is accessible: 
     Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FAPSWINShellGST19\Shell\Open\command
     

  1. Try to open a locator.  Please note that the locator of that year will need to be installed as well ex. 2016 locator will need RS 2016 Client
