Sharing Passwords to Collections:
Sharing passwords is easy within Bitwarden, and it is important to understand the easiest way to achieve this. Sharing directly is not possible however you can share passwords to your Collections. If another member has access to the same collection that you shared to, both members will be able to make an edit at anytime to the shared login and will update for everyone.
NOTE: Sharing a personal password to a collection will move that password away from personal vault going forward. (You can make a copy but will have to update the personal password manually
Follow these steps to share a personal password to a collection:
- Login to the Bitwarden extension. Use the search bar and find a password you wish to share. Make sure you are searching in "My Vault" as these are passwords only available to you.
- Select the password and you should be able to edit the saved item. Navigate to the bottom where you see "Move to organization"
-
You will be able to select which Collection you can move to depending on the access that you have. Once you have checked the appropriate Collection, select Move on in the top right corner.
- Now navigate to the collection to find it. Select the labeled "Vault" tab at the bottom of extension menu. Choose the Smith + Howard vault in order to see all Organization shared passwords.
- Scroll down to see all your available Collections. Click on the collection that you saved to. All members who have access to this collection can now use and update the password for all members.
-
NOTE: There may be sub-collections in a folder that you shared the password to. Your password will be along the bottom.
