Requirements:

• MFA on mobile device

Overview:

Microsoft number matching will be the new way to authenticate within the MS Authenticator app. We have been familiar with the normal push notification appearing, but Microsoft is enabling this for further security and authentication. 

MFA Setup:

1.   If you do not already have the Microsoft Authenticator setup you can do so by following this article: Microsoft 365 MFA - How to setup MFA : S+H Technology Systems (smith-howard.com)  

Number Matching:

1. When a user responds to an MFA push notification using the Authenticator app, they'll be presented with a number. They need to type that number into the app to complete the approval. 
   • Example: Left side: Initial Sign-in View | Right side: Microsoft Authenticator App 
     
     
     
2. Once you enter the number within the prompt, you should be able to sign-in on the service that requested this Authentication.
