Full Timeline:

  • Tuesday, Dec 28th, 2021– You will receive an email from Zoom letting you know your Zoom phone has been activated.
    1. We recommend you setup your voice mail at that time.
    2. You can also setup any phone preferences or forwarding at that time if you want
    3. You should sign into Zoom on your workstation and your mobile device
  • Thursday, Dec 30th, 2021– Our current phone provider will begin moving phone numbers to our new Zoom Phone provider.
    1. You need to sign into your Zoom Phone on your desktop and the mobile app to ensure you have full access to incoming calls.
    2. Unfortunately, we do not have control over the timing of this move though we have asked for the change to be made late in the day.
    3. If you currently have call forwarding enabled to a number we will continue this on 12/31/21 for incoming calls
  • Friday, December 31st, 2021 – We will terminate being able to make or receive any calls from the Cisco/Jabber phone system
  • January 3rd – January 7th we will offer both in person and remote Q&A sessions for those with questions about how to use the system.
  • Friday, January 21st, 2022 – Jabber and other associated software for the old phone system will be removed.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q- What about my new and old voicemails?

A – Your new voicemail will be available in both Outlook and Zoom. Your old voicemail will be in Outlook until you delete it and in Jabber until 1/21/2022.

Q – If I need headphones or earbuds what do I do?

A – We have headphones, earbuds, speakers, and speaker phones available. Contact the Help Desk to request a pair.


Q – Will I be getting a new desk phone?

A – No, we will not be providing desk phones as the new Zoom Phone system better supports Work From Anywhere and in office hoteling


Q – Do I have to be logged into my workstation to take/ make a call?

A – To use your workstation to get calls you do, however you can use the Zoom Phone mobile app to make and receive calls from your mobile phone using the same number on your current desk phone.


Q – I heard we were getting the ability to text from our desk phone numbers, how do I make that work?

A – We have not enabled that yet, but look to be enabling it late in January 2022


Q – What should I do with my old desk phone?

A – Nothing, we will be working through the office to remove the old phones and adjust the cables going to your computer to support this change.
