Overview:
This article will walk you through one of the methods for resolving link issues in documents. This article especially addresses issues with documents that were rolled forwards from previous versions of Excel and CaseWare.
- CaseWare Connector CWIN32.EXE Error and links are showing #REF
- ReLinking data to the CaseWare file to resolve #REF
Section 1: CaseWare Connector CWIN32.EXE
- Excel may present an error regarding CWIN32.EXE not found or authorized for use in Excel. If this error comes up you can ignore this error and move forward to the next step.
- Verify that the file is open with no other errors or warnings about Macros, is not "Protected" and there are no RED or YELLOW bars across the top. If there are you will need to resolve these first.
- Go to the Add-Ins menu at the top, then choose Tools > Options and place a check mark next to "Use Connector UDF functions" if it is not already checked.
- If it was not already checked, then save and close the document.
- Reopen the document and see if this resolved the issue. If it did not then continue to Section 2
- If the problem is resolved then close the document and be sure that a full SmartSync is completed to ensure the parent copy is updated.

- Save the document and close it out
- Re-open the document from CaseWare Working Papers
- Close the document and be sure that a full SmartSync is completed to ensure the parent copy is updated.
