Requirements:

• Firm issued laptop
• Current Windows login with an up-to-date password
• An active and working Internet connection

Overview:

The Firm's VPN solution is now provided using Global Protect. This article will guide you through the process of connecting to Global Protect. 

• Connecting using initial login
• Connecting to the VPN After logging on
• Connecting to the VPN with no portals available
• Disconnecting from VPN

Connecting using initial Login:

1. On the Lock screen select sign in options
2. Select the Global Protect Symbol then enter your password to sign in.
   
   

Connecting to VPN after logging in:

NOTE: Most times the VPN will automatically connect for your, use these instructions only if the VPN does not connect automatically.

1. Verify that you can access the internet by opening Internet Explorer and browsing to a website such as a news site. If you are unable to access the internet, then the VPN will not work.
2. Once logged in go to the system tray down by the clock on the task bar
   
3. Double Click on the icon with a Globe, it may have a shield, house, or X symbol on it.
4. Select Connect button found at the bottom. Please ensure the Portal is remote-dc.smith-howard.com.
5. You will know you are connected with the 2nd screenshot
   
   

Connecting to VPN if no portal options:

If the remote-dc.smith-howard.com portal does not appear please follow the instructions below:

1. Select the Global Protect Icon
2. Click on the 3-horizontal line in the top right of the GlobalProtect pop-up
3. Click on Settings
4. In the Connection tab, next to Manage Portals select the plus button: 
   
   
5. Type in remote-dc.smith-howard.com  in the prompt that pops up then click add.
   
   
6. Once connected you may close the window.

Disconnecting from VPN

Find the VPN menu and select the top right corner. Then select Disconnect
