Requirements:
- Smith & Howard issued computer
- Connection to the Firm network via wired, in office wireless, or VPN
Overview:
Opening Info.
- While connected to the Firm network go to the L: (Firm Data) drive.
- Open the "IT_Helpdesk" folder and in that folder the "IDEA Servers" folder.
- Highlight the three files "IDEA1", "IDEA2", and "IDEA3" and right mouse click the group choosing copy.
- Paste the files to your computer somewhere that is familiar and easy to access like your Desktop, Documents, or a similar folder.

- Locate where you put the IDEA server links
- Double click on one of the servers 1, 2, or 3.
- A new window will open, if this is your first time connecting you will need to do step 4, otherwise skip to step 5.
- In the warning window put a check mark in the box "Don't ask me again for connections to this computer" and click Connect
- You will be asked to put in your password, this is the same password you use to log into your Firm computer then click OK. Ensure that your name and user name show up before typing in your password.
If your name does not show up then choose "More Choices" at the bottom and pick your user name or put in your email address and password. Click OK when done.
- If this is your first time connecting then you may receive the following warning box, you can click on "Don't ask me again for connections to this compute" and YES.

If another user is currently connected:
You will get the warning below. Unless you are sure they are not currently working on something or have saved their work choose NO. If you are sure they have saved
their work and are no longer connected you can take over the server by clicking on YES. If you click yes then they will be force logged off the machine without saving any of their work.
If no one else is currently connected:
You will be logged in to the server. If you stay connected for 1 hour without working on the machine you will be disconnected. If you leave that connection running for another hour without connecting and working then any unsaved work will be lost and you will be force logged off of the server to make it available for others.
- To disconnect but keep the program running (2 hour time limit) you can choose to Disconnect. START > POWER > Disconnect
- When are complete with your work, please close all open application and choose Sign out. START > USER > Sign out
