Requirements:

  • Smith & Howard network account
  • Access to Outlook
  • Permission to send AS or ON BEHALF of another user/group/address

Overview:

The difference between sending AS a user and ON BEHALF is that ON BEHALF will display as:


Where sending AS a user will only display as them in the email. Check with the help desk via help desk ticket to see what permissions you are given.



Sending AS or ON BEHALF  another user/ group/ address in Outlook:

  1. Open Outlook and click New Email on the top left.


  2. In the new email, click the OPTIONS tab.


  3. Click the From button from the Show Fields column.



  4. This will highlight From and a drop down menu will appear called From and will display an email address to the right of it.


  5. Click the From box and click Other E-Mail Address...


  6. The Send From Other E-mail Address prompt will appear. Click From...



  7. The Choose Sender: prompt will appear. Make sure that your address book is the Global Address List.


  8. In the search bar to the left of Go, enter the user or group you would like to send from. The list will automatically search. Select the correct name and click OK. Click OK again.




  9. In your new email, the user or group you are sending as will appear as From.



    Note: If sending as someone or on behalf of someone, it will not update as their signature. You would have to edit the signature manually or delete it from the email.

  10. Continue composing the email and click Send.
