Requirements:
- Smith & Howard network account
- Either in office or connected to VPN
- Stable internet access
Overview:
Only 1 user can be connected to a IDEA computer at a time. You must also sign out after you are done using an IDEA computer.
Connect to IDEA:
Option 1:
Navigate to the L: drive at L:\IT Helpdesk\IDEA Servers. There will be three shortcuts to connect to an IDEA Computer.
There will be a certificate prompt. Click Connect.
Continue to the Security warnings & Seeing if the computer is in usesection.
Navigate to Remote Desktop Location. That is located by going to: START > WINDOWS ACCESSORIES
There are three possible IDEA computers to connect to in the RDP address box:• IDEA1.SMITH-HOWARD.COM
• IDEA2.SMITH-HOWARD.COM
• IDEA3.SMITH-HOWARD.COM
NOTE: Only 1 person can be logged into a computer at a time.
Enter one of these into the address box listed as Computer:
Security warnings & Seeing if the computer is in use

You will be prompted for your Smith & Howard network password. Enter your password and click OK.
Note: Tick the box next to Remember my credentials to save your information for next time.

You may be prompted for a certifcate warning. Tick the box "Don't ask me again for connections to this computer" and click Yes.
If someone is connected to the computer you will be prompted. DO NOT CLICK YES. THIS WILL KICK THE USER OFF AND THEY WILL LOSE ALL THEIR WORK. The prompt will look like this:Change the address to a different IDEA computer.

After successfully connecting to, RDP will automatically log you in. IDEA will be located in START > IDEA.
WARNING: After 1 hour of idle time, you will automatically be logged off and any unsaved work may be LOST. The IDEA computers restart automatically at 3:00 AM EST, any unsaved work may be LOST.
After you are done:
NOTE: When you have finished using IDEA and RDP, you MUST sign out.

Click the Start button and click the "Avatar" icon. Click Sign out.
