Requirements:

  • Active internet connection
  • Internet Explorer or Google Chrome

In Internet Explorer:

  1. Open Internet Explorer and navigate to the website you would like to check if it is secure.
  2. In the Address Bar, navigate to the padlock icon.
    Note: Some websites will not display a padlock icon. This does not mean that the website is unsecure. However, most popular sites like GoFileRoom will display the icon.


  3. Click the padlock to display the security information. Notice that it says: This connection to the server is encrypted.


  4. To view the certificates, click View certificates. This will display information about the security certificate this website has.


In Google Chrome:

  1.  Open Google Chrome and navigate to the website you would like to check if it is secure.
  2. In the Address Bar there will be a padlock to the left of the URL. It will have one of the three:


  3. To learn more about the security of the website, click on that section of the Address Bar. For further information follow the Learn more link highlighted in blue.
