Requirements:

  • Smith & Howard email & password
  • Active internet connection with 2+ GigaBytes of available download (Hotspot/Mobile MiFi not recommended)
  • A Smith & Howard Office 365 License (You have this if you have Office 365 on your firm computer, however you can verify this by contacting the help desk)
Note: Though the firm uses Microsoft Office 2013 and this installs Microsoft Office 2016, documents created will work in both versions without issue.

Office 365:


These instructions will assist you in using the Microsoft provided instructions (link below) to install Microsoft Office 2016 on you Windows PC or Apple Mac computer. Please fully review these instructions first, then use them as a guide as you follow through the Microsoft instructions. Should you have any questions or concerns please contact the Smith & Howard Help Desk for assistance.


  1. To begin, click the link HERE to open the Microsoft provided instructions in a new tab in your browser. The below instructions will assist you in using the Microsoft instructions to install a copy of Microsoft Office 2016 on your computer.
  2. Navigate to the bottom of the page where the title is Select the PC or Mac instructions for your plan from the drop-down list.


  3. Click the down arrow next to Step-by-step installation instructions for a PC or Mac and choose between Office for business - install on a PC or Office for business - Install on a Mac.


  4. Begin with step 1 in the instructions when you select your one of the  two options. Follow the link listed by Microsoft:



  5. You will be taken to a Office 365 sign in page. Enter your Smith & Howard email address.When you enter your email and begin entering your password, the logo will change to the firm's logo. After entering your email and password, click Sign in.



  6. Once you sign in, the page will look like this:



    Note: If using the PC version, verify that it is the 32-bit version.

  7. Continue following the steps and install Microsoft Office 2016.
