Using the search view

1. Select the Search icon from the Archive section of the Mimecast Tab.

2. The Search View opens and the Search tab is displayed by default.

3. To run a Search, start by completing the search criteria on the left side of the screen.

By default, the subject, body, and headers of the message are searched.

1. Click the Search button at the bottom of the screen to run the search.

2. The search results will be displayed in the middle of the screen.

3. The search results displayed includes the Sender, Recipient, Subject, Date, Size of the message, and whether there

is an attachment icon.

4. To preview the email, simply click on it. Double clicking the message will open the email in a new window.

Saving a search

Saved Searches allow you to save the search criteria for future searches.

1. Once a search has returned results select Save at the bottom of the view.

2. Assign a name or description for the Saved Search.

Saved Searches are stored in Mimecast and available to all Mimecast end user applications.

Saved Searches are accessed from the History tab.

Using Smart Search in the message list view

Smart Search is available above the message list in the main Outlook window. By entering text in the Search field, a search

is performed across all aspects of the email (including the subject, headers, body, attachments, attachment name,

attachment type).

1. To run a search, start by completing the search criteria in the Smart Search box.

2. As you type, options will be displayed allowing you to define advanced criteria without having to understand  advanced search operators, examples include: 

1. Matching words in the subject only (subject:review),

2. To or From contacts (to:John),

3. where the text appears in files (files:review).

3. Press Enter to run the search.

4. The search results view will open.

Using the History tab

The History tab provides access to the following features:

  • Recent searches 
  • Saved searches 
  • Common searches 
  • Tags 

Searches listed in the History tab can have the following actions applied:

  • Run the search again 
  • Edit the criteria 
  • Delete the entr
